Goldenrod and Asters

“Goldenrod and Asters” was inspired by the book “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In the late summer in New England the asters and goldenrod plants attract masses of bees and other insects. The fields are jumping with activity during this time. I tried to capture that sense of busy buzzing energy that you feel when you walk through a field of these flowers.

About the Artist

Jennifer started rug hooking after some surgery that kept her inside for a month. She meant to try it and that event gave her the time to do it. Her first piece was designed by her and was a mat to put on a 6 foot bench. She took many workshops and classes over the following 25 years. One class was how to do art felting. That technique clicked for her so she now combines felting and hooking.

Jennifer has been on the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild Board for many years and has helped create the Hooked in the Mountain Rug Show since 2016.
