Perfectly Paisley

My inspiration for this piece was an article in the September/ October 2020 issue of Rug Hooking Magazine. I wanted to use colors reminiscent of antique paisley. I started pulling colors from my stash; it came together very easily. Almost like it wanted me to hook it! The backing is linen, my backing of choice, and it worked very well with the cuts I used.

I love the beading. I’d done very little beading before this rug, but I became addicted to it. I think it makes the rug. The pattern as drawn had circles/bubbles filling in the paisley shape. I tried several renditions, but I just wasn’t happy with any. Nothing worked for me, and then I realized it was the shapes that were bothering me. I deleted them and filled in with paisley shapes. Then, it worked for me.

This was one of the most enjoyable rugs I’ve ever made. The colors came together easily, and they are my favorite colors.
