Several months into my love affair with Vermont, I joined Pam Finnegan’s Rug Hooking Class at the Senior Center in Montpelier.  I assumed that as an avid quilter, knitter and craft enthusiast, it would be an easy skill to pick up. That’s the thing about assuming. A year and a half into hooking now, I am fascinated by the intricacies of the craft, and am completely wow-ed by the artistic talent that I only hope to someday match. The more that I learn, the more that I realize there is still so much to learn. I am obsessed, which I’m sure many of you are familiar with.

Both “Late October” and “Phases” were exercises in trying the unknown: alter a pattern, add a fun texture, design something abstract, play with color – this journey of learning a new form of self-expression is never-ending!
